Senior Boys XC Team
Athletics
Athletics has played an integral role in the sporting life of Midleton CBS over many years. The strength of Athletics in East Cork, with the continuing hard work done by the local athletic clubs including Midleton AC, East Cork AC, Youghal AC and in the past Glenbower AC, has provided a natural base for emerging athletes.
To nurture their talents at secondary school level Midleton CBS has been fortunate to call on the services and dedication of former Irish Olympian, Liam O’Brien. Since his appointment to the staff of Midleton CBS in the late 70's, Liam has given of himself unstintingly to the sports of Athletics and (in latter years) Orienteering in the school. Even though now retired, he still finds time to be heavily involved in both sports. The school is very grateful to Liam for all his time and commitment.
James Walsh (Cross Country) and Sorcha Ní Riain (Track & Field) have, in the last number of years, joined Liam to help with the coaching and mentoring of the athletes.
The school has seen much success in recent years in a wide variety of disciplines across the sport.
During the first part of the year we take part in the cross country season. We have, minor, junior, intermediate and senior teams competing and winning at the South Munster, Munster and All Ireland Championships year on year.
During the second part of the year it’s all about track and field where we compete at the highest level in the Munster and All Ireland Championships. Here, our students have brought great success to the school over many years.
Tá fáilte roimh chách! All welcome.
